tl;dr/ is sportmania just a form of self-expression?

As someone who hates adrenaline and fights anxiety on a regular basis, it’s safe to say that I’ve never been able to let myself be sucked in by sportmania in a way that much of the world does. I’ve always looked at the men in my life, in particular, who share such passion about a sport with a distinct intrigue (and, to be honest, slight ridicule) when their days are legitimately ruined because a 20-year-old boy didn’t kick a ball into a net.
Despite how strange it might seem to me, swathes of the global population share similar reactions when ‘their’ team loses.
Maybe this says a lot about cultural consciousness and our priorities as a species, but I kind of cba ? Sport is fun – addictive to many – and what’s also fun is understanding why. This article was a great insight into that.
